Fiji Rugby Union teams up with Oceanic
The Fiji Rugby Union is pleased to announce it has signed a sponsorship deal with Suva-based Oceanic Communications for all the online needs of the national rugby body. The new arrangement will include Oceanic providing online technical support and maintenance of FRU’s upcoming website.

“This is an important step for Fiji Rugby,” FRU’s chief executive Timoci Tavanavanua said. “We have been working on the new FRU website for the past six months, getting ready for the launch. Oceanic’s sponsorship comes at an ideal time.”

The new FRU website will be launched later this month. As well as offering daily updates on the happenings in Fiji Rugby, it includes a comprehensive database of more than 600 Fiji matches since the inaugural Test against Western Samoa in 1924, plus bios on more than 800 players.

“Oceanic will be developing the site further to include features such as an online shop and they will also be providing technical support for all FRU’s email needs, which has grown significantly in the past two years,” Tavanavanua said.

“The two-year deal, worth some $50,000 a year, will assist in marketing Fiji Rugby as we strive to become a more professional unit.”

Jonathan Segal, Oceanic’s managing director, also expressed pleasure in the new signing and promised great things ahead from the website.

“Oceanic is extremely fortunate to be aligned with the FRU as their official online communication partner,” Segal said. “The core focus of the new website is content and we're building applications and functionality around that content in order to get it into the hands of as many rugby fans as possible.”
